Early scenes out of both names are nearly identical, occurring at a similarly ravaged villages full of twisted human rivals, a chainsaw-wielding crazy guy, along with bizarre puzzles. Nowhere is that clearer than when Assessing The Evil Within to Resident Evil 4 (another Mikami name ). It’s no surprise the Evil within takes inspiration from Japan’s survival horror names – after all of the game’s manager, Shinji Mikami, accounts for a number of the genre’s most seminal moments. But are these re-imagined and Repackaged classics compete with all the modern-horror greats like Outlast and Amnesia?
